Overview
This article covers the default creative elements of your program's call-to-action (CTA) zones. CTAs serve as the primary point of engagement for your referral program. CTAs can be dynamic or static, and typically launch the advocate share experience when tapped.
Each CTA creative element has a default appearance and copy (text) as detailed in the tables below. To configure any of the creatives or specific creative elements of your CTAs, contact your Client Services Manager for assistance or submit a ticket to Extole.
Basic CTAs
Basic CTAs are served from zones on your site and consist of the following elements:
Element Name | Description | Default |
CTA Text | The text of your CTA. Less than twenty characters is recommended. | [Refer/Share] and [Earn/Get] [Advocate Reward] |
CTA Text Style | Defines the style of the CTA Text. | NA |
Border Style | Defines the style of the CTA Border. | Border-style: none |
Autoshow | Should the sharing experience automatically pop up on the page with the CTA? [Yes/No]. It's good to set this to "Yes" for your post-purchase sharing CTA. | No |
Overlay CTAs
Overlay CTAs are similar to basic CTAs, except that they can hover in a corner of your page and expand on hover or tap. For full details, check out our article on Overlay Calls-to-Action.
Overlay CTAs consist of the following elements:
Element Name | Description | Default |
Accent Color | The accent color to use for the CTA. | Green (#459943) |

Tickle Delay Time | How long should the overlay display in standard mode before expanding. | Thirty seconds |

Tickle Again Time | After the CTA has automatically tickled a customer, how long should the overlay stay dormant before it tickles them again? | One week |
Embedded CTAs
Instead of hosting your own CTA that triggers the advocate sharing experience as a pop-up, you can directly embed the experience as part of your page. This way, the experience itself becomes the CTA, which you can easily update in My Extole's Campaign Editor.
Self-hosted CTAs
Instead of having Extole serve your CTAs, you can host the CTAs on your site and tell Extole to trigger the advocate sharing experience when someone taps your CTA. You can read more in our article about Hosting Your Own Calls-to-Action.
