Overview
What is an aggregated report?
An aggregated report is a powerful tool designed to streamline how you view and analyze data over time without repeatedly running large reports.
Instead of generating a new report every hour or day to capture all your historical data, you can use our aggregated reporting function. Aggregated reports will automatically integrate new data into an existing scheduled report. This means you can continually build on the same report, adding the latest data on top of the old, to maintain a comprehensive "all-time" view without the need for constant full-range data processing.
Example Use Case: Zoom
Extole client Zoom needed an “all time” report on a weekly schedule. To avoid running a large report every week, they instead set up an aggregated report on a weekly schedule that adds the new week of data to all previous data.
Why use an Aggregated Report?
An aggregated report might be right for you if:
You go to the reports page and you want data for “all time.”
You are looking for a metric or events report that shows you how often something occurred (i.e., shares, promo click throughs, etc.) day by day, week by week, etc. and you want the data grouped by time period, locale, device type, etc.
Report Configuration
Create a new report and select the option for Schedule.
Fill out all of the Schedule report fields as you normally would.
Open the Advanced menu and scroll all the way down to toggle on Aggregated Reports.
Fill out the Sort By and Unique By fields.
Note: For a Metrics Report, the dropdown options available for these fields are populated by the Report Columns. For an Events report, the dropdown options are populated by the Mappings.
Select your format(s) and click Schedule!
What are Sort By and Unique By?
The Sort By field allows you to specify which column in your report will dictate the sorting of the data. Meanwhile, the Unique By field allows you to specify the dimension by which you want the data in your report grouped.
For example, let’s say you are looking for the number of shares in a program for each locale week by week. In this case, the Sort By value would be Period Start Time and the Unique By value would be Locale.
