Why shouldn't I display a multi-use code on friend landing?

Updated over 2 months ago

If your system only has multi-use coupon code capabilities for friends, Extole suggests that you never expose those codes to the consumer, especially if they are static. This helps to avoid multi-use codes from getting posted directly on social sites or coupon sides. This is important for 2 reasons:

  1. You want to avoid paying for referral discounts that were not rightfully part of the referral program.

  2. You don't want unattributed conversions coming through your system where advocates will not get rewarded. If someone gets that code and puts it on a coupon site, those users are all people who can copy and apply the code, and your program wouldn't have any visibility into those referrals. This means your advocates will get upset and support inquiries will increase.

For these reasons, we suggest that you always auto-apply multi-use codes. If this is not a possibility on your end, please contact your CSM to see what some alternatives might be.
