Why is the from email @email.referral-mail.com? - Gmail Friendly From Changes

Updated over a month ago

Gmail has unilaterally decided to change its DMARC policy, which means that Referral Emails sent using gmail.com in the from address, will have to originate from Gmail's infrastructure:

  • Impact to referral programs: Referral Emails sent from Advocate's with a "@gmail.com" email will be changed to "@email.referral-mail.com"; all replie-tos, however, will be to the advocate's actual email address.

  • Extole has been extensively testing the impact of sending emails from the advocate versus sending emails using the alternate email address format.

  • Our testing has shown there is no change to friend CTR based on this change

  • Extole will be building a new integration with Gmail that will help us support our original integration of coming from the friend.

  • In the meantime, we do not expect any impact to your program - though we will continue to help you to monitor for any changes to friend click through rate performance.
