Overview
Extole’s marketing tags let you easily place program calls-to-action (CTAs) throughout your website with limited technical lift. Once your team adds our core JavaScript to your site, you can choose exactly where you'd like the CTAs to appear by using simple marketing tags.
These tags help you track where users click, giving you insight into which placements perform best and can be designed / updated from within the Extole platform.
How It Works
To display Extole’s CTAs on your site, you’ll need:
Extole Core JavaScript
This script enables Extole's program to work on your website. Your development team will only need to install this once, typically in the website’s header.Marketing Tags
After the script is in place, you can add marketing tags wherever you'd like to show CTAs. These can be added directly to your site or via a tag manager.
Why Marketers Love Marketing Tags
Simple to use – You decide where the CTAs go, and your team can place them without complex development work.
Flexible – Add CTAs to any page, section, or experience on your site and control the design and copy from within the Extole platform.
Trackable – Easily see which placements drive the most engagement and conversions.
Common Tag Placement Examples
Here are the most popular places marketers choose to display CTAs:
Global Header – Add a CTA across all pages at the top of your website.
Global Footer – Place a consistent, low-profile CTA at the bottom of every page.
Confirmation Page – Encourage sharing immediately after a customer completes a purchase or signs up. This can be an auto pop or require a click by the user.
Overlay – A non intrusive floating CTA that allows the user to easily access the program.
Each placement serves a different purpose and can be tested to see what works best for your audience. For more recommendations, check out our Best Practices Guide.
How to Get Started
Decide where you want your CTAs to appear—homepage, product pages, post-purchase, etc
Go to Tech Center -> Tag Generator to get the needed tags. If there is a CTA you’d like to add that isn’t available, work with your Extole team to create those tags.
Ask your development team to install the Extole core JavaScript and marketing tags on your site or through a tag manager
Monitor performance to see which placements are driving the most value.
How do I add Tags to the page?
You can do this directly to your webpage, however if you are more comfortable using a tag manager or website management tool, we’ve had partners use the following sites: Google Tag Manager (GTM), Adobe Experience Platform Launch, Tealium, Segment (by Twilio), Shopify
