How to Set Up a Reward

Set up and change rewards using Extole’s upgraded Flow Builder.

💡 Important Note: This guide only applies to flow campaigns that use Extole's upgraded Flow Builder. Check for the flow icon next to your campaign name.

Overview

Choosing the right reward is key to driving engagement. To keep your program fresh and relevant, we recommend updating rewards regularly. This article covers how to set up or replace an existing reward in your flow campaign.


Default Rewards

All flow campaigns come with default rewards available in the Flow Builder that you can finish setting up.

For example, a standard referral campaign comes with the following rewards:

  1. Friend Reward on Share Clicked (disabled by default): This is an optional reward that is automatically dispensed to the friend when they use an advocate’s share link and arrive on the Landing Experience (no email capture required).

  2. Friend Reward on Signed Up (disabled by default): This is an optional reward that is automatically dispensed to the friend when they use an advocate’s share link and successfully sign up on the Landing Experience (email capture required).

  3. Friend Reward on Converted (enabled by default): This is our best-practice reward for driving friends to convert and become customers. When a friend makes a qualified purchase, they will be rewarded.

  4. Advocate Reward on Friend Converted (enabled by default): This is our best-practice reward for driving advocates to share your brand with friends. When a friend makes a qualified purchase, the advocate who referred them will be rewarded.


How to Update Rewards

Step 1: Navigate to the Reward

  1. Go to the Programs Page and click the Manage Flow icon for your desired campaign, or from the Campaign Editor, select the Flow tab.

  2. Locate the reward you would like to update. It may be attached to a business event or have it's own separate box.

Step 2: Update the Reward

  1. Click the existing reward to open its settings.

  2. In the Reward section, select your desired reward from the available options.

  3. If the reward now has a different value, rename the reward to reflect the new value.

  4. Click Apply to save your changes.

Step 3: Update Campaign Copy (if applicable)

If you are updating a reward on an existing campaign, you may also need to update the messaging in your campaign to ensure it reflects the new reward value.

Step 4: Publish Your Changes

Once you're done editing your campaign, be sure to Publish your changes.
