Set Up Dynamic Eligible Audience Files

Set up a daily feed of your eligible customers who can participate in your program

Updated over 2 months ago

Overview

You can limit program sharing to a specific list of eligible advocates by creating and managing an audience in Extole. This is commonly used when you don’t want to gate a program behind login, but still want to restrict participation to a defined customer or member subset. Follow this guide to set up a dynamic eligible audience and connect it to your campaign.

Default File Format

Your audience file must be a .csv with the following column headers:

first_name

last_name

email

member_id

John

Jones

200728

The member_id parameter is the default column header for Extole Refer a Member and Credit Union Welcome Offer campaigns, but may be different for your program.

Implementation Steps

  1. Create a new Audience named Eligible Advocates in the My Audiences section of the platform

  2. Click into that new audience and find the Audience ID in the URL after the #/

  3. Prepare a file with test data using the format above

  4. Connect to the Extole SFTP server

  5. Upload the test file to [email protected]:/audiences/{audience_id}/replace

    1. This upload will replace the entire list. We recommend replacing it daily to maintain accuracy.

  6. Connect the Eligible Advocates audience to your campaign

    1. For clients using Flow Builder, see How to Target a Program under the Audience Targeting section

    2. For clients using legacy campaigns, reach out to your CSM to finish setting up your campaign

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we have to replace the audience each day?

The best practice is to update the audience every day to ensure accuracy, but can be updated as frequently as you’d like. Extole also supports /add and /remove which would add or remove that list of users from the audience.

Can audiences be updated manually?

Audiences can be uploaded manually in the My Audiences section, but for advocate eligibility, it’s recommended to set up a daily file feed.

If the person is removed from the audience, are they no longer eligible to earn rewards?

By default, we do not use the advocate eligibility as a rule / requirement for reward (although it can be easily added with the Is Part of Audience reward rule). In the case of a bank or credit union, if they do not have an eligible account they cannot earn the account credit reward.
