Overview
If you've ever taken a look at our Support pages, you may be familiar with what we sometimes refer to as our bubble diagrams. We have been able to provide these graphs that illustrate links between individuals because of the unique data that we collect about program participants and their relationships.
Network Visualization
The network visualization on your Audiences page allows you to focus on interesting areas of the network of your program participants. It can act as a way to visualize influence, and it shows everyone who has a network size greater than three.
A person's network size—that is, the total count of all their "child" relationships—is determined based on all the data we have about the person. A person's network size never shrinks.
There are three time-based attributes of a network:
Network Activity: a count of the number of people that were active in the network during the specified time period. Being "active" means they performed an advocation (e.g. shared, dropped a hint, left a rating, left a review, etc.) or an outcome (e.g. registered, converted, opened an account, etc.).
Value of Network Activity: the total value of outcome events (e.g. registrations, conversions, account openings, etc.) during the specified time period.
Network Size Growth: the number of new relationships in the network for the specified time period. If an advocate refers a person who already has a network, then this growth number includes the friend's entire network.
Network Relationships Report
In the top right corner of the network visualization is a download button for the report that powers the graph. Exporting this report gives you a list of people, sorted by those with the highest network activity value to those with the lowest network activity value during the specified time period. A specific person's information is sorted by their most recently updated relationship to their least recently updated relationship within the specified time period.
This report contains the following data:
The person's information (e.g. name, email, user id, etc.)
The size of the person's network
The count of activities in the person's network -- advocations (e.g. shared, dropped a hint, left a rating, left a review, etc.) plus outcomes (e.g. registered, converted, opened an account, etc.).
The value of activities in the person's network
The growth of the person's network size
The related person's information (e.g. name, email, user id, etc.) and network information (i.e. network size, network activity count, network activity value, network size growth)
In the network visualization itself, you can click on a person to see their email address and then click on their email address to see their Person Page. You'll notice that their Person Page also has a network visualization. The network visualization on our Person Pages shows all the "parent" relationships as well as all the "child" relationships for that person.
