Overview
Extole allows you to understand if your referral program is bringing in new customers or bringing existing customers back to spend more. Extole will capture the last purchase date and put it in the consumer profile of anyone who interacts with Extole. This means that we can look at the purchases made by referred customers and evaluate whether or not those purchases were made from someone who is new to file or reactivated. This helps you manage your program so that you can choose to only reward advocates who drive new customers. Not only does it help you manage quality, but it also allows you to report on how effective the referral channel is at acquiring new customers. By going to your dashboard in your My Extole account, you can see your new-to-file reporting compared to referrals from other channels.
To see this, click program you would like to view, then filter by Visit Type Breakdown and select the Conversions (of Signups) tab. You can also see a report of your Percent New to File in the Reports tab under Performance. For more information about your dashboard, see here.
Enabling the New Customer Rule
You can enable the "New Customers Only" rule on the Rules page in your campaign. This can be done for registration and conversion events. Please note that this rule is enabled on a per-campaign basis and it is recommended to update every live campaign for dashboard reporting consistency. To update this setting, start by going to the campaign editor or clicking the Edit Creatives icon for the campaign to update.
Once on the campaign editor, click the Rules tab then scroll down to the Friend Conversion section (or Registration, depending on where you want to enforce this rule) If you would like to set a look back period, you can click the gear next to the rule and enter the number of days you would like to look back.

Q. How can I make this more accurate? Can I preload a list of customers?
Yes, when you first launch your program you are able to pre-load a list of recent purchases to Extole so that this reporting and any reward rules can run from the initial launch of your program.
